Engagement Pictures

Last saturday we took our engagement pictures up at the Sundance Resort in Provo Canyon. It was much better than I thought it was gonna be. I really don't like being the center of a photographers attention, but it turned out to be ok. Here are just a few. We took like 200 or something ridiculous like that

This is the one I think we decided to send out in our invitations (which will be coming soon, I promise).

Eventually i just couldn't handle it anymore. I had to make a face.

My thoughts are not your thoughts...............Most of the time.

Today I had a little profound experience. I parked a few blocks from UVU cause all the parking was full at the institute when I drove through it. And I was walking along a street that overlooks the institute parking lot on my way to class. I looked out over the parking lot and noticed 2 free spots. For a split second I considered running back, getting my car, and trying to get a closer spot, but quickly dismissed that idea as "retarded." But as I kept looking at these spaces available i noticed a few cars enter the parking lot, and drive through, not noticing these spots. They drove down a different lane! I got a little frustrated. I wanted to yell to them that there were some really close spots just right there. I even saw one car just down the row parked, waiting for students to come out and leave so they could have their spot.

Then I started thinking about how Heavenly Father must feel like this a lot. We have great opportunities right around the corner if we would just take the time to seek them out. Not only that, but he sees everything. He wants us to succeed, and must get really frustrated when we make the wrong choices that would lead us in a different direction then where he wanted us to go. I'm sure parents feel this way many times as well. I just hope that I can live my life so that revelation will guide me in the way heavenly father wants me to go.

I love when Heavenly Father gives me little experiences like this where for a split second my thoughts ARE his thoughts. Just a little tender mercy. I hope that as these thoughts keep coming I can make my ways his ways. I guess that walking to school early in the morning is a good time to let the spirit speak to me. Back in march or april I had another experience like this about earth worms that i blogged about (you can check it out if you want to). I guess Heavenly Father knew that I needed a little something like this today in preparation for the starter on my car breaking and leaving me stranded at the school that very afternoon. I'm grateful for his love and Mercy, And that he sees the big picture for my life, even when I have a hard time seeing it.

Here I come to wreck the day

Many might remember the cartoon Mighty Mouse. He would always say "Here I come to save the day!" Well the other day I walked into my apartment and what did I find? A little brown mouse ran out from underneath the couch. In his confusion and the fact that he was running on a slick floor he slid around the wood floor before running into my bedroom. Well needless to say I was mad! So I went out and bought a few mouse traps and set them around the apartment. I read online that mice don't really like cheese, contrary to popular belief. They recommended putting peanut butter on the trap instead. Well, I did that. The next day I check my traps and the peanut butter was gone. Those dang mice are sneaky. Luckily I have caught one, but I think there might be more. The neighbors upstairs reported seeing one the other day in their apartment as well. And since our apartments are connected, they have taken over the house. So I'm not sure how they got the peanut butter off the trigger, but I'm gonna have to think of something else to get them. If you have any suggestions let me know.

I thought this picture was pretty accurate. Incase you didn't pick it up, its a spoof of Mission Impossible.

Standing for Something

I came across an old video I made and put on YouTube around this time last year. I made it because all the controversy of Proposition 8. I was mad because of so many members that were angry with the church leaders because they were taking a stand. Here it is.

Just a few things

These are just a few random things I thought I would share with you:

1) I have lost 12 pounds already this semester from ROTC. My goal is to lose another 20 by at least the summer when I go to Field Training. That would put me at 180, which is well below my max weight the Air Force has set.

2) There is just a little over 6 weeks until my wedding. I can't wait. I really just want to be married. Its so hard being engaged as all you that have gone before me know. We have to make a lot of rules, etc. But we are hanging in there and plugging along with the wedding plans.

3) Conference was AMAZING as usual. I am always amazed at how many of my questions and prayers are answered each general conference. I love it. I think back at all the stuff I missed before my mission when I was more interested in my legos or erector set than i was in what was being said on the t.v. (the legos and erector set were a while before the mission, not up to). It was really neat hearing my uncle Brent talk and seeing him (and my cousin eric) on the jumbo-tron at the conference center. He did a great job.

4) Is it just me or is it getting really cold here in Utah? I swear it is never this cold by this time of year. When I leave my apartment at 5:40AM for Physical Training with the ROTC I just about die. Luckily my car has a problem with over heating, so it doesn't take long. However, it also doesn't take long to get to the location where we train. So by the time I get there I'm starting to warm up.

5) My brother Matt left the MTC last week and got to his new area in Latvia. He is so excited. He has two companions, one of which played offensive line for the Air Force Academy, so he is a big guy. He will keep Matt in shape, at least for the first little while. I'm so excited to see the transformation Matt will go through over the next two years and the person he becomes.

That is about all I can think of for now. I'll try to keep you updated.
